Weekly Troop/Patrol Meetings
Every Monday, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
176 McKinley Avenue, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236 (map)
We meet on every Monday evening, on which the Grosse Pointe Schools have classes. Our
meetings are held at the Richard Elementary School. Generally, our sign-up night for the start
of the Scouting year is the Monday following Labor Day.
The last official meeting of the year is the June Court-of-Honor/Pinic.
Monthly Campouts
In general, we go on a weekend campout every month, except the summer months. During the summer,
we have a week-long Summer Camp which we spend at Cole Canoe Base near Alger, Michigan. We camp in
the Aspen campsite that Troop 86 has adopted. Summer Camp is generally held the last week of July.
All Scouts are eligible for this event. Also during the summer, we have a High
Adventure campout that is usually limited to Scouts who are 13 or 14 years old or older, and generally who
have attained the rank of First Class.
Service Projects
In addition to weekly meetings and monthly camping activities, Troop 86 Scouts develop a sense of
citizenship by participating in special Service Projects throughout the year. These include Eagle
Leadership Service Projects that benefit organizations and communities in Southeast Michigan.
Courts of Honor
Troop 86 conducts a Court of Honor quarterly to recognize Scout advancement and awards. The Court of Honor is a public ceremony,
and is a chance for the Scouts to be recognized for their achievements. Families and all other interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
